About Labrador Retrievers

General Information
This is a strongly built dog originally from European countries, then shipped to the island of Newfoundland by fishermen from England as early as 1604. Newfoundland fishermen carried a Labrador on the dory (boat) to retrieve fish that came off the trawl (large net dragged along the bottom of a bank).

The size of the labrador dog ranges from 22.5" to 24.5" and weighing 65 to 80 pounds. The bitch size is 21.5" to 23.5" and weighing 55 to 70 pounds.

We believe in breeding the "original" size Labrador and will not breed for the larger size. In this case, we believe that larger is not better.

Temperament
The Labrador Retriever is a breed which is outgoing, eager to please, and non- aggressive toward man or animal. The labrador has much that appeals to people; his kind gentle ways, intelligence and adaptability make him an ideal dog.
